Sunny Sherwood Inn Wedding in Skaneateles
Favorite things about M and C’s wedding weekend:
The weather: Perfect day!! Not too hot or cold, it was sunny, and bright for August. Anytime I can spend a wedding day outside, play with sunshine and shadows and it’s my favorite thing in the world.
The ceremony: Everyone was so present during the ceremony. There was an energy in the air that made everyone watch, participate and sing, and cheer when the were announced. There was also honking in the background from car, but they were getting married on Main Street in Skaneateles.
The guests: everyone couldn’t wait to get M and C married!! The wedding party was pumped, the fam was overjoyed. Also, the dance floor? Poppin. The couple had said in their inquiry that they were big party people and by golly, they were not joking.

The welcome dinner was on Mid-Lakes Navigation in Skaneateles NY two days before the wedding to allow everyone to relax for a few days before the wedding day on Sunday.
Guests and family got to eat a delicious meal, hear speeches from special friends, and take in that gorgeously clean Skan lake (especially at sunset!!)
NOW IT’S TIME FOR THE WEDDING
Sunny and cool, I don’t think they could have asked for a better day.
Maddie got ready at the Hannum House while Cooper got ready in a room at the Sherwood Inn - it was great to be able to walk everywhere and be close by.
Maddie and Cooper opted to do a first look, family photos and wedding party photos before the ceremony so they can enjoy cocktail hour. Everyone was nearby so it made gathering specific groups super easy.
I also remember just how PUMPED everyone was - the excitement from the wedding party was so fun and wholesome. As a wedding connoisseur (lol), it’s easy to forget that this is most folks first time getting married or attending a wedding, and when you feel the energy of a friend group, it really just makes to so happy to be part of something so spacial.

I’M GOING TO JUMP AHEAD INTO THE NIGHT
I don’t normally stay for the whole time of dancing BUT
Maddie and Cooper were doing a grand exit, so they wanted that documented
Maddie and Cooper were also HUGE party people and were anticipating this point in the day since they’re first meeting with me
They danced so hard, they didn’t even cut the cake, which to me, is a sign of a GREAT day.
Anyway, back to before the ceremony…
I think there is something so special about photographing a couple + their friends and family that are so nice and fun and really just want to live their wedding day, rather than having a checklist to get done. While there were shots that were important to them, we all knew that documenting the actual experience and having time chatting/catching up with everyone was more important.
I hope you enjoyed reliving Maddie and Cooper’s wedding day as much as I had photographing it!!

The whole goal of the day is a fun and colorful dance party with all our favorite people in the world…We love a more documentary and candid type style, it feels like you capture the day in motion and the day doesn't stop to get the posed photos (though we do want some of those :)”
